2002 Porsche 996 Targa

2002 996 Targa- Loaded and Rare Car!

If you have been looking for a 996 and demand perfection, this car will meet your expectation!

The car was originally sold at Bill Pearce Porsche in Reno, NV and the original owner traded the car in at Ron Tonkin Ferrari in April of 2005 when it had just 11,368 miles. My customer who is a very particular local PCA member and former club officer bought the car from the Ferrari store and took meticulous care of it. I have a complete service history and it of course runs and drives like new. Current mileage is 34,xxx.

Here is how the car is equipped:

I cant speak highly enough about the quality of this car! The paint is 100% original as verified by a paint meter. The car has been protected with a 3M stoneguard on the hood, front fenders, bumper, mirrors, door edges and door handle cups. It has done its job and the original paint is nearly flawless. No dings, scratches, etc. The interior is likewise pristine, no smoking, no kids, no excuses! The car truly is ready for your local PCA concours.

Mechanically the car is without reproach. It comes with a complete service history from new. Prior to sale the car will receive a complete annual service including oil and filter, cabin air filters and a brake fluid flush.

In 2002 Porsche introduced the Targa, which unlike the earlier air-cooled 911 Targa which featured a removable roof panel, these feature a very trick sliding glass roof that retracts under the rear window. It gives you the open air feeling of a convertible, with the security of a coupe. Not to mention it is the most practical 911 as you can access the rear cargo area with a hatchback, the only 911 to feature one!

For those not familiar the Targa was all new for 2002 and all of the 2002-2004 996 cars are highly desirable versus the earlier 1999-2001 996 cars because several key improvements were made, such as: Displacement increased via a stroke increase to 82.8 mm taking displacement to 3596cc. Horsepower increased to 320. Variocam Plus came around that was continuously variable, improving performance throughout the rev range. These motors do not suffer many of the early maladies such as porous crankcases, RMS failures, and the like. Check this out before you buy an early car, ever wonder why they are so much cheaper? Inside the interior the cupholder was vastly improved, the central airvent is 20% bigger for greater airflow, the multifunction display got bigger and the electronic speedo moved to its correct spot at the bottom of the analog speedo.

What a car!
