2003 Porsche 996 Twin-Turbo!

2003 Porsche 996 Twin Turbo-49k miles

If you’re looking for a 996TT and want a no excuses, no stories, no modifications, 100% original paint, fully documented example, with all the known issues addressed, this might be your car! These cars are hands down the BEST value in the used Porsche marketplace! They have a simply mind boggling performance envelope yet they remain docile to drive, practical for everyday driving and dead reliable. What more could you ask for?

Here is the overview:

This particular Turbo was sold new at Roger Beasley Porsche in Austin, TX on March 1st, 2003. The original owner kept the car for just 5 months when he traded it back in on another new Porsche (must be nice!). It was subsequently sold to another local Austin Porsche enthusiast where it stayed until 2012 when my client in Portland, OR purchased it.  It has only been serviced by Roger Beasley Porsche, Porsche of North Houston or most recently by Matrix Integrated in Portland, a well respected independent Porsche service facility.  I have a complete service history from new to current. It has been loved from day 1, which is apparent!

Body and Paint-

The body and paint on this car are simply gorgeous! Other than a few very minor chips in the hood, its looks like a 20k mile car. The best part? The almighty paint meter reads between 4-5.5 mils on every exterior panel, indicating all original paint. The Carfax is of course clean!

Interior-

The interior is likewise almost flawless. I just purchased a set of OEM Floor mats (not in photos), so they will be like new. The only real flaws I could mention is some minor fingernail type scratches on the center console and behind the driver’s side interior door pull.  Other than that it’s VERY nice. No smoking, no kids and no pets.

Mechanical-

The current mileage is 49,100.  The best thing about this car is the complete history from motivated owners. So many of these cars as they got to be under $40k fell into owners hands that simply didn’t care for them. Not this car. Here are the most recent service items:

  • 49,100- Annual Oil Service, 4 new Sumitomo HTRZ 225/40/ZR18 and 295/30/ZR18 tires installed
  • 47,046- new clutch slave accumulator (known issue on these!), new ignition switch assembly (another known issue!)
  • 45,092- 45k mile service: new spark plugs, new coolant reservoir cap, new serpentine belts, new belt tensioner and idler rollers
  • 41,769- New OEM Clutch and flywheel, annual oil change, brake fluid flush, new front spoiler, replace outer drive shaft boot, new right front strut (leaking) and mount, 4 wheel alignment.
  • 38,446- annual service, new right side window regulator and motor
  • 36,956- annual service, cabin and air filters, wiper blades
  • 29,891- 30k miles service, 4 wheel alignment
  • 26,425- New battery
  • 26,066 Annual service,
  • 13,569- 15k miles service
  • 10,229- Annual service
  • 9,968- Replaced transmission under warranty for 2nd gear pop-out (known issue)

The car runs and drives beautifully and EVERYTHING works as designed. You can see it has always had its regular maintenance, has a new clutch, 4 new tires and the “known” issues such as the transmission, clutch slave, ignition switch, etc. have been addressed. It’s 100% turn key and ready to go!

Flaws:

I am a big believer in full disclosure and am VERY particular. Here are the flaws as I see them:

  • Wear and Tear- The car literally looks like a 20k mile example with exception of some minor chips in the hood, 2 or 3 other small nicks and the light fingernail scratches on the center console and drivers door panel (common on 996).
  • Front Spoiler- This was replaced 8k miles ago, but it does show some of the typical scuffs, you just can’t avoid it with how low the front end is. Luckily this is a cheap replacement part from Porsche.

Modifications-

This is the only 996TT I can recall selling where there isn’t a single modification or deviation from stock. Not one, that is hard to find!

Accessories-

The car comes complete with all of the following:

  • Complete books and VIN matched service manual in leather folio
  • Complete service history from new to current
  • Clean Carfax
  • Toolkit, jack, plastic gloves, etc.
  • 2 Keys
  • Fitted car cover
  • Fitted front windshield sunscreen

I am actually amazed at how much car you can buy for this price. A 415-bhp all wheel drive true supercar featuring the bulletproof dry sump Metzger motor for less than the price of a so-so 3.2 Carrera. The Porsche world has gone crazy; these are the last of the true bargains, get one before they go nuts as well!
