2017 Porsche 991.2 Carrera 4S Coupe-Sapphire Blue on Black, 26k miles, wow!

I have to chuckle, Porsche purists LOVE to parse the most finite of details and will argue vociferously about which 911 is the best one…. I can predict with 99% confidence which 911 submodel a given enthusiast will argue loudest for. The one they own! Generally they will proclaim that the next generation has “jumped the shark”, gotten too “big”, too “digital”, and it not worthy of adulation….. I hate to break it to you, ALL generations of 911 are GREAT, it just depends on which one speaks to you and which one fits your use case.

Why did I start with that diatribe? Simple, when the 991.2 was introduced for MY2017 many of these said enthusiasts decried the factor that Porsche utlizied turbocharging. Proclaiming this “forced induction” to be contrary to the ethos of the 911. Most had not even driven one….

Now fast forward to 2026 and the same people are proclaiming the 991.2 to be the goldilocks, modern performance coupled in the 991 body and chassis size. I could care less as my opinion of this car has always been the same, to quote one of my favorite british friends “bloody brilliant!”.

Now that we have gotten the controversy out of the way, one thing that isn’t controversial is that the Porsche crowd LOVES COLOR! This particular example is finished in Sapphire Blue Metallic which is a color Porsche absolutely NAILED! It’s both brilliant, bold, yet at the same time elegant and timeless. Sadly it was only on offer for a couple years and is in my opinion the signature color for the 991!

This particular car will raise the heart rate of the Porsche performance buyer as it is spec’d with just the right mix of performance goodies:

• Sport Porsche Active Suspension Management (SPASM)

• 20″ RS Spyder Wheels
• it of course has some other nice options like premium package, mutifunction heateed steering wheel, BOSE, PDLS, painted interior trims, painted rockers, etc…

This car is gorgeous inside and out and most importantly, per my commentary above the 991.2 is a brilliant machine to drive. The 3.0 liter 420hp motor on paper is just 20hp up from the prior motor BUT torque is up 13% to 368ft.lb but the torque peak hits at 1,700 rpm and stays flat vs. the prior 5,600 rpm torque peak. In layman’s terms these cars are effortless and deliver power NOW! Such a great car in all types of driving.

Ok, you are tired of reading about it. Please come and buy this car, otherwise it will be a story you tell your children some day….”I was going to buy a….”
