About this Car

Have you ever played the mental game of “If I won the lottery, here is what I would do…”. Of course you have, we have all had this daydream. Let me tell you one of my ideas…

I would LOVE to create a living Museum of Classic Porsche that isn’t just focused on rarity or aesthetic perfection, but focused on building a DRIVEABLE set of cars that based on my experience represent how that car is SUPPOSED to drive and feel like. I would then allow people to drive them, just to experience the magic! WHY? Simply put I drive SO many Classic Porsche’s that oftentimes look beautiful but drive awful, it breaks my heart! This means entire swaths of people have NO idea how an exceptional 356 is supposed to drive. I promise that IF you are blessed enough to drive a stellar example you WILL know why they are so prized. I also promise that if you drive 90% of the 356’s in the world, you might think “this is charming, neat, nostalgic, but also loose, ill handling and not that much fun.”. Trust me, if you have that sense when piloting a 356, keep looking as a good 356 is so unfathomably good you will be rendered speechless!

I tell you this dream because 1000% THIS 356 is the BEST driving 356 I have ever driven! That is saying something as I have driven more than I can count over the past 30 years… Now lest you think I have lost my marbles, lets not forget some REALLY key items about this specific car:

  • Holy Grail Rarity- Just 248 T6 Twin Grill Roadsters were ever made! Built for just one year by D’lteren in Belguim to my eye they are the most gorgeous of the open 356’s (sorry Speedster!).
  • Champagne Yellow over Green Full leather- this combination is nuts! I am especially fond of the green leather. It smells like a new handbag inside and the contrast with the top down? To die for….
  • Restored by arguably the best restoration outfit in the world, Willhoit Auto Restoration in Long Beach, CA. I would stack this car against any Twin Grill in the World, its that good. I don’t make that statement lightly…
  • The car featured was restored off a well documented, solid West Coast car so they didn’t start with a project but even with that, the car was taken to a bare metal shell and comprehensively gone thru (see the photos). The restoration was completed in 2009 and has covered not quite 600 miles since.
  • For all you 356 Anoraks and nit pickers, look closely and the buzzwords such as gaps, trim, lenses, matching numbers, et all will all past muster. In fact if you want to say anything negative, it really just boils down to the fact that this car is way better than in was in 1962…
  • The car comes both with the pictured Technomagnesio wheels as well as date stamped correct original steel wheels.
  • Correct original 1962 tool kit and jack.
  • Matching numbers motors taken out to 1925cc, retaining original Zenith Carbs and engine dress.
  • Converted to 12v and an electric fuel pump to aid driveability.

Hopefully you don’t need to win the lottery, as this one isn’t cheap, bur rarely the best are. Please reach out so I can blather incessantly about my love for this twin grill!
